Main characters

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III: The son of Stoick the Vast, heir to the Hairy Hooligan Tribe, and eventual chief of Berk. He is scrawny, weaklingish,[5] awkward,[6] riddled with sensory processing disorder,[7][8] ADHD[9] and indolence.[10] When first introduced in How to Train your Dragon he appears to be about fifteen years old. In Gift of the Night Fury it is revealed that he turned sixteen sometime between How to Train your Dragon and that short film. He owns a DRAGON called Toothless who is one of the rare Night Fury species which are generally thought to be extinct by most people of Berk including Hiccup’s father Stoick.[11] He has an ambidextrous writing style where he holds his quill in whichever hand is more convenient for him at the time; this usually means holding it in his right hand when writing something down quickly or holding it in both hands when giving more care to what he writes (for example when carving Runes into wood).[12] This unique writing style is also exhibited in How To Train Your Dragoon comic books.[13] He also appears left handed when drawing.(in race to the edge) In How To Train Your Dragon 2 it seems as if he might be left handed as well because when Astrid was asking him what was wrong his right hand was holding Toothless while his left arm was reaching towards her face.[14][not in citation given]
